Burr Elm Print (#10)
Vessel number 10 was turned from burr elm and left open at the top edge, so the rim rises and falls in spikes wherever the burr gave way.
Below it the wood is a mass of small eyes and clustered swirls, the growth pattern of a tree that kept knotting back on itself. High contrast strips the colour out and leaves the shape and the pattern doing all the work.
8 inches square. It hangs happily on its own, or alongside other pieces.
Printed on canvas, stretched over a wooden frame and ready to hang straight out of the box.
Number 10 sold at the Edinburgh West End Fair. The print is the record of it.
• 1.25″ (3.18 cm) thick poly-cotton blend canvas
• Canvas fabric weight: 10.15 +/- 0.74 oz./yd.² (344 g/m² +/- 25g/m²)
• Fade-resistant
• Hand-stretched over solid wood stretcher bars
• Mounting brackets included
