About
James Harding aka “One Eyed Woodworker”
Handmade. One at a time. Made to feel like home.
I started woodturning in 2020 as a way to get away from screens and reconnect with something slower - something more physical.
What began as a quiet hobby in my garden workshop has grown into a small, evolving collection of handmade wooden pieces designed for calm, thoughtful homes.
Each bud vase and bowl is turned on a lathe, following the grain and movement of the wood.
I don’t try to force the shape - I let the material guide me. That means no two pieces are ever exactly the same.
Some are smooth and clean. Others carry small marks or knots - reminders that this came from something once living. I work with UK native hardwoods like oak, ash, and sycamore, finishing each piece by hand in small batches.
The name 'One Eyed Woodworker' comes from the fact I’ve been blind in my left eye since birth. For a long time I tried to hide that, but I’ve come to see it differently.
It’s part of who I am - and part of how I see the world. Slightly off-centre. A little unexpected.
Thanks for visiting my website. I hope something you find here feels just right in your hands - or in your home.

Where One Eyed Woodworker Pieces Have Ended Up
Below you will find all the parts of the country that I have been lucky enough to sell my items to. I don’t take it for granted when someone chooses to spend their hard earned money on an item I’ve made with my hands. It’s a special thing for me.
As someone who runs this part-time (what the cool kids may have once called a side hustle) it is rewarding to see the array of places that my items now call home. The dream is to take this full time one day, so I can spend more time doing what I love and see even more points appear on that map.
