The burr elm carries a dense, swirling grain with scattered voids and darker pockets throughout. These small interruptions are part of the material rather than something removed. Each one catching light differently as the piece is turned in the hand. There’s a quiet contrast between the wild surface figure and the simple form.
It works easily with a few dried stems or seed heads, but holds its own without anything in it.
Finished with microcrystalline wax for a soft, dry sheen.
